Shadow on shadow The whole world falls apart again Well I remember and in a moment I am there Right back in that secret room Home, Home Where you right where you belong And I am right where I belong All in all it's just a song It's meaningless and all the words are wrong.
Whiteout upon whiteout It starts the whole thing over again Well I remember but I take back everything I've said There is no secret room Home, Home Where you are not Where you belong Where I am not Where I belong These words are words And nothing more But they're not meaningless They've led to all of this I'm sure.
It's so open, so vague, so adaptable to our own fantasies. It reminded me of something I just saw on fbook: Perspective 101
1. Something happens 2. It means nothing 3. We make up a story about what it means 4. The story we make up creates our reality, it creates our world, it creates what's possible and not possible.
The song itself is so flexible: write with shadows, write with whiteout, erase, blur, start again, remember, emerge, disclose, erase.. "But they're not meaningless, They've led to all of this I'm sure". It reminds me a little of Mingyur R's book (perhaps because it's on my mind and that's all) but again.. vague. Beautiful.

Hey Derick!

Shadow on shadow
The whole world falls apart again
Well I remember and in a moment I am there
Right back in that secret room
Home, Home
Where you right where you belong
And I am right where I belong
All in all it's just a song
It's meaningless and all the words are wrong.
Whiteout upon whiteout
It starts the whole thing over again
Well I remember but I take back everything I've said
There is no secret room
Home, Home
Where you are not
Where you belong
Where I am not
Where I belong
These words are words
And nothing more
But they're not meaningless
They've led to all of this
I'm sure.
What a wonderful song :: )

Thanks so much PP!! Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if reading Mingyur's book influenced the way I wrote the song.
