Conversation Over Dinner

"Conversation Over Dinner. Waterville, NY." Sep. 2, 2012

YOU: I can still hear the clanging of yesterday. The booming from out of the furrows of the damp streets—the ones I had walked down the night before, the ones that saw me foolish and unfettered, the ones that echoed my pulses and took them to the cracks of the curbThere I listened to my footsteps etching themselves into the mud, but the sound seemed to be of two pairs of feet: one stepping forward from behind me, and the other my own. And so I hesitated.
ME: And who was it?
YOU: Well, I never turned around.

This is wonderful, Derick. Is the painting of that one great dinnerparty you had, with the musicians?
